Tegucigalpa, November 16 (RHC) .-- The organizations defending women's rights were terminated more than 260 women have been murdered this year in Honduras. 90% of these crimes remain unpunished. Carolina Sierra, coordinator of the Forum of Women for Life, held in Tegucigalpa, has deplored the increase in violent deaths of women and criticized the low national court structure that prevents to find and punish the guilty. She stressed that the main causes of violence against women is the patriarchal system that exists in society, the rise in organized crime and human trafficking and drug trafficking. For its part the National Front of the Popular Resistance (FNRP) strongly condemned the killing of five peasants in the Honduran community El Temblor in Aguán down by hired assassins of the rural oligarchy. The five farmers were part of the Peasant Movement of the Aguan. A dozen people were injured. Front reported that some 200 armed individuals, obeying the orders of Miguel Facussé, a large landowner, the peasants attacked with rifle bullets using large caliber weapons. The number of peasants killed so far in the lower Aguan, amounts to 17. |
